Old Pal
This project was featured on the Magnolia Network show “In With The Old” Season 5 episode 9. We were charmed by the antique character of this Historic Boston-Edison home in Detroit, and so excited to help modernize the kitchen while respecting the era of the original architecture. We took down a wall and reworked the layout to create an open space with room for a dining table as well as an island with seating, built-in coffee bar, and pantry wall. We repurposed a tiny bathroom off the corner of the kitchen into a walk-in pantry, hidden behind doors that match the other cabinetry. The rich wood tones of the island and glass cabinets tie in beautifully with the original woodwork seen throughout the rest of the house.
